MIKA ANTIĆ

Miroslav Mika Antić was born in 1932 in Mokrin, a village near Kikinda. He attended high school in Kikinda and Pančevo, began his higher education in Belgrade. He did not graduate, but he acquired numerous followers of his poetry.

Along with his “A Blond Lock of Hair”, the cheeks of many boys were blushing, girls were growing up with “First Love”, generations of young people were looking for “The Blue Star”. Pančevo is a city that can be proud to have an unofficial hymn written by the great poet “The Danube flows into Tamis”. “From all the seas, from all the oceans, Pancevo is when you return to yourself one day, “Mika Antić said in his song that every Pančevo citizen sings.

Mika wrote his wonderful reports as a reporter while he worked as a journalist in the first half of the 1950s in the newspaper “Pančevo”, and in which his comic book “Brother from Banat” was published.

“In fact, I tell everyone that the real biography, the kind I would like, I do not have yet, despite so many books that I have written, the pictures I have exhibited, the films I have made, the dramatic texts, the newspaper reports” said this poet, painter, screenwriter, director, journalist, editor, but also a former sailor, mason’s assistant, puppeteer…. bon viveur and a dreamer at all times.

Miroslav Mika Antić died in 1986 in Novi Sad. One elementary school in Pančevo bears his name, and to preserve the memory of his beloved poet and versatile artist, since 2010, the event “Mika’s Days” has been held in Pančevo.
