NEBOJŠA GLOGOVAC
Nebojša Glogovac was born in 1969 in Trebinje and moved to Pančevo at the age of eight when his father Milovan received his service as archpriest at the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin. He completed elementary school “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj” and high school “Uroš Predić” in Pančevo, and after two years of studying psychology at the Faculty of Philosophy, he enrolled in acting classes at the Belgrade Faculty of Dramatic Arts in 1990.
During his high school years, he was active in the Pančevo Amateur Theater. The theater was where, in his own words, he “felt this magical contact with the audience for the first time while acting in Ruzante’s most famous plays directed by Milenko Zablaćanski, who motivated me to enroll at the Academy. It was there that I felt the audience breathing and where I realized that the audience breathes as you breathe. That’s when it came to my knowledge that I could make people react. “
He was a scholarship recipient and then a member of the Yugoslav Drama Theater in Belgrade. Mr. Glogovac has mastered the scene in various plays: “In the Hold,” “Troilus and Cressida,” “Gunpowder Barrel,” “The Golden Fleece,” “Tracks,” “Hadersfield,” “A Suspicious Face,” “Metamorphoses,” “The Broken Jug,” and “Hamlet,” one of his last roles.
“So, I look at him on stage and my soul is filled with a feeling, something that makes me believe, forget, laugh and cry, dream … He tells me he is not sure he can be Hamlet. I’m laughing. Only the big ones doubt themselves first and then others. Vlasta Velisavljević removes a paper crown from a plastic bag and puts it on his head. He was crowned King. For the King of Acting. Bows to him. Nebojsa is king,” this is how Alexander Popovsky, the director of this play, described Glogovac’s Hamlet.
Nebojša Glogovac was said to be masterful, a top improvisator, who could play the phone book for an Oscar. On the movie screen, he is striking, suggestive, powerful. Movies such as “Premeditated Murder,” “Cabaret Balkan,” “Sky Hook,” “Thunderbirds,” “When I Grow Up, I’ll Be a Kangaroo,” “The Trap,” “Enclave”, “The Constitution,” prove his lavish acting talent that evolves into life.
“He was a quiet, wise, extremely simple and at the same time complicated man. That also made him a great actor. There was no special technique or acting school there. In him, both life and acting came from his humanity, from his inner sensitivity and his external firmness, from that contradiction that drives real actors. I was very fortunate and honored to be able to work with him, enjoy movie making together, “wrote Rajko Grlić, director of the film “The Constitution”, in his article published on the occasion of the death of Nebojša Glogovac.
He received numerous awards for his theatrical, film and television achievements, among them the Golden Arena in Pula and Grand at the Niš Film Meetings, for his masterfully played role of Professor Vjekoslav King in the film “The Constitution”.
